We said goodbye to our 6th class pupils in a very moving Graduation Ceremony on Thursday 25th.
We started with Mass celebrated by Fr. Comer, which emphasised the friendship, fun and faith we have shared over the past 8 years. Our talented pupils spoke, sang and played throughout the ceremony.
This was followed by presentations of a slate plaque to Ms Fahy class teacher, and a basket of School Garden utensils to Mrs O’Connor .
Families and friends were then treated to a DVD of the graduates’ achievements and activities, followed by refreshments catered by the Parents’ Association.
Friday morning saw the presentation of Rural Schools Medals to our Girls’ Football Team. Then the whole school applauded the 6th class back to their classroom one last time, to view their DVD commemorating their many happy years at St. Brendan’s N.S.
Slán libh a pháistí, agus go n-eirí an t-ádh libh go léir!
Another very successful Ice-Cream Day was held on Wednesday June 24th. Thanks to the support of pupils, Parents’ Association, families and the wider community we raised €455 for this great cause.
The sun smiled on us on Thursday June 12th as we celebrated Ice Cream Day for Down Syndrome Ireland. Thanks to all from the whole school community who ran and supported the event… we had great fun, and raised €519 for Down Syndrome.

Pupils, parents, staff and Board of Management members gathered this morning for a beautiful celebration of Mass in the school Hall, to mark the beginning of the new school year and the National Day of Prayer for Children. Our theme was Friendship Near and Far, and so we sang the World Missions anthem “Children Helping Children” reminding us of children in far off countries, and Alive-O song “One Won’t Do” celebrating playing together in school. Pupils from Junior Infants to 6th class were involved throughout the ceremony and displayed their many talents as readers, singers, musicians, percussionists, and even dancers!
During the mass, Fr. Comer welcomed all our new pupils, reminded us that Jesus Is Our Friend and distributed little prayer booklets “A Prayer in my Pocket”… one for everybody in the
Finally we honoured a friendship which has lasted 37 years so far, as the Board of Management and Parents’ Association presented tokens of appreciation to Margaret and Dan Joe O’Keeffe on their retirement from Rathcoole Shop and Post Office. Mrs. O’Connor reminded us that the O’Keeffes have been great friends to the school in so many ways over the years, providing savings stamps and sweets, altar cloths and candlesticks, not to mention their phone answering and mail minding services!
Donal McCarthy mentioned their commitment and loyal service to the Board of Management – Margaret as Treasurer, and Dan Joe as Chairman of the Fundraising and 160th Commemoration committees. Mrs. Lynch gave Margaret a beautiful bouquet of flowers and Veronica Murphy made a presentation on behalf of the Parents.
